Sujit Choudhry together with other top constitutional law experts composed an open letter directed to both the Spanish and Catalan governments pleading with them to participate in open-minded dialogue as a means to end the current crisis. The scholars insist that the President of Catalonia should remain firm on the secession quest and arrange for a referendum to affirm the desires of the Catalonian people to secede.

The scholars also recommend that Spanish Prime Minister, Rajoy demonstrates good faith and accepts the wish of the Catalonians by allowing them to exercise their desire peacefully. Any attempts to stop them mounts to rights abuse. To keep the fundamentals of the EU, a peaceful solution to this dispute is the way forward. The brutality vested on Catalonians should never happen again. Catalonian President, Mr. Puigdemont derailed declaration of independence to give dialogue a chance. It seems not every citizen is for the secession idea as the vote revealed. The president must find a way of knowing the actual stand the Catalonians have on the matter. The international community is paying a closer look to see what unfolds.  Check patch.com for a related article.
