Sujit Choudhry is presemtly a Porfessor of Law at the UC Berkeley School of Law. Actually, Sujit Choudhry holds the title of I. Michael Hyman Professor of Law at Berkeley School of Law. Therefore, he holds a prominent and highly respected position with the law school.
Sujit Choudhry’s main area of concentration or focus is that of Constitutional Law. Comparative Constitutional Law is the specific study of comparative constitutional systems of law. Choudhry also served as Dean of Berkeley School of Law for a period of two years. He was the first man of Indian decent to ever be appointed Dean of the Law school.
Prior to becoming Dean at Berkeley School of Law Mr. Choudhry served as Dean at the New York University School of Law. Sujit Choudhry started his career as a law clerk under the direction of Antonio Lamar in Canada. Choudhry had met Antonio Lamar when he was still in law school.
Choudhry also held various positions at the University of Toronto. While at University of Toronto, Sujit Choudhry served as Dean of Students for a time. In addition, Choudhry was also a Professor of Health & Management while employed by University of Toronto. Choudhry took an interest in municipal governance while residing in Toronto Canada. In late 2006, Professor Choudhry was assigned to the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Ontario. This provided excellent experience for Choudhry because he was exposed to those who couldn’t afford a high priced attorney to take their legal case. Legal Aid provides legal assistance to those who can not afford traditional attorney services.
Sujit Choudhry majored in Biology at Mc Gill University. In addition, he received his law degree at University of Oxford. Finally, Choudhry attended University of Toronto where he received his LLB. It is quite evident that Choudhry believes in the importance of higher education.
Sujit Choudhry has acted as a consultant for various federal committees. To date, Choudhry is an active member of the Public Health Committee in Canada.
