He is continuously called to speak to many different groups and he is known for his commitment to his approach of problem solving.

There was a discussion in the Austin, Texas area that focused on the different transportation challenges that the area’s suburban regions face. Mike Heiligenstein was included in this discussion. Heiligenstein, as well as the others included, made sure to center this specific discussion on the different ways that technology is currently changing the look of transportation. Heiligenstein believes that Austin and the surrounding areas needs to invest more in growing their transportation capacity.

He believes that this needs to be done by building not only more roads but also by building smarter roads. He believes that this way is the only way that they will be able to serve all of the demands of the rapidly growing area and population, specifically in the suburbs.

Heiligenstein stated that Williamson County has done and is doing a great job of structuring it’s infrastructure. However, there are constantly going to be more and more people continuing to come to the area.

The roads need to be made to be more efficient as well as more advanced. Austin’s growth rate is eventually going to nullify any of the improvements from the mass transit usage increase, which is why it is critical to continue focusing on roads. Uber can be worked with to help create different subsidies that is able to help both the rider as well as the transit agency.
