The GOP has been in the forefront of doing away with DACA and the attempts to demolish the program has been alarming among the young migrants. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a program that has been providing undocumented migrants that are youths and meet certain requirements with social security number, prevent them from deposition, as well as giving them a chance to work and live in the United States of America the program is renewable after for two years. The young migrants have an added advantage because in some states they are able to acquire drivers, license as well as state- tuition fees. The effort to do away with the program has gone to an extent where the Attorney General of Texas Ken Paxton wrote a letter to the Triumphs’ Foundation.
The primary reason of the letter was to urge President Trump to end DACA by September 5th. The Attorney went ahead to threaten the Presidents Foundation if the action is not action. However, the process to do away with the program will not be immediate but the DACA program will not accept new applications. The letter was not only written by the Te4axs Attorney General but also nine other Attorney Generals of other States. There are so many cases in courts that are challenging the program and recently the Hispanic Caucus came together to discuss the issue with John Kelly who is the secretary of Homeland security.
The DACA program is in its fifth year and it has been of a great benefit for the beneficiaries of the program. The young migrants have been able to educate themselves, buy houses, buy cars, as well as creating business in the United States. Their efforts to stay in the country are also of a benefit to the United States of America as they are a source of revenue. The DACA Program is protected by Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund a group that advocates for human rights.
