Sujit Choudhry is the Director of the Center of Constitutional Transitions. He recently joined a panel of constitutional experts to discuss the government of Ukraine. The country’s semi-presidential system was the topic of analysis and discussion. Think-tank participants included the National Institute for Democracy, and the Center of Policy and Legal Reform. For Sujit Choudhry, discussing executive powers with other experts was a privilege. The panel agreed that Ukraine democracy is unstable due to what they believe to be a weak electoral system and compromised political parties.
Today, Sujit Choudhry is Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He has also served as Scholl Chair at the University of Toronto. People around the world recognize his standing as an expert in politics and comparative constitutional law who has lectured in dozens of countries. He has advised in Jordon, Egypt, Toronto, Ukraine, South Africa, Yemen, and Sri Lanka to name several. His education is just as impressive as his experience. He uses constitutional design as a method to help countries manage a peaceful transition toward democratic policies. He deals with many societies that are divided as a result of ethnic tensions.
